Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism [DEIAR]

ORCABC is committed to embrace an environment where equity, diversity and inclusion, and anti-racism are the norms.

Diversity

Diversity refers to the presence and integration of a wide variety of people with different characteristics—such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, and ability. It goes beyond just representation to include cultivating an environment where these human differences are truly celebrated, leveraged, and contribute to enriched experiences, improved performance, and broader societal impact.

Equity

Equity means ensuring fair and respectful treatment for everyone by providing the unique resources and opportunities they need to succeed, even if it means not treating everyone the same.

Inclusion

Inclusion means creating a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment where everyone, regardless of their background, ability, or identity, has the equal opportunity to participate, feel valued, and belong. It goes beyond simply having diverse people present; it involves actively creating a sense of belonging and ensuring that policies, attitudes, and facilities are accessible and welcoming to all individuals.

Anti-Racism

Anti-Racism is the proactive and systematic effort to identify, challenge, and eliminate all forms of racism—including individual, institutional, and systemic racism. It involves transforming policies, practices, attitudes, and systems to create DEI spaces where everyone has the opportunity to participate and succeed, regardless of their race or ethnic background.
